Life Games unites NFL alumni and pro athletes to raise real money for charities and causes — through proven fundraising, youth mentorship, and celebrity events.
The First Team
Pro athletes lending their names, their stories and their time to the causes and young people Life Games serves. New alumni added regularly.
The Fundraising Program
A dining-rewards card program that partners your charity or cause with local restaurants — restaurants build loyal guests and goodwill, supporters save money all year, and your organization earns ongoing income.
The cardholder — plus up to 5 guests per visit — gets unlimited free non-alcoholic beverages with the purchase of an entrée at participating restaurants.
Each card is good for a full year of use and renews annually — ongoing savings while dining out, which can add up to hundreds of dollars a year for an active supporter.
Built for recurring, compounding annual income. A supporter buys in once — renewal notices go out automatically each year, so support keeps coming.
Sell the card once and the system handles renewal reminders on each card's expiration date. It's an easy yes for supporters — another year of savings for them, another year of support for the work you do.
Signing restaurants up takes little effort. The card fills their tables with new and repeat customers at minimal cost to them — and a partner can typically be up and running within 24–48 hours of a signed agreement.
The Roster
Life Games brings together NFL alumni and pro athletes — alongside lawyers, doctors, media figures and other professionals — to lend their names and experiences to causes and to young people. Many overcame adversity and poverty through hard work, and they show what is possible.
School-Based Youth Program
Athletes who are making a difference. Young people have always looked up to sports stars as heroes and role models — these athletes use that influence to help youth develop the right life skills to succeed in the game of life.
Young people get the chance to hear, listen to and interact with these professionals in a classroom setting — learning directly from people who overcame adversity and poverty through hard work and determination.
Many of these professionals came from deprived backgrounds but had the determination to overcome adversity and poverty. They describe what hard work has meant to them and the doors it opened — representing to young people the alternatives for building dreams and goals, developing good decision-making skills, and choosing to avoid destructive behavior.
Capitalize On The Celebrities
Celebrities give an event real star power. You've got a great cause and a great course — now add the third of the 3 C's: Celebrities. Most people will jump at the chance to play golf with a football or baseball hero.
Celebrities add the draw that attracts attendees to an event. Golf tournaments are great places to meet them in a relaxed, friendly environment.
Celebrities feel safe and at ease at golf events — access is controlled and everyone is there for the common purpose of helping a great cause and having some fun.
You don't need a celebrity for every foursome — just a few to meet, take photos and share stories with. Give the honor of playing alongside them to your top sponsors.
About The Founder
Life Games was built by Al Dixon — an NFL alumnus who turned a playing career into a lifelong mission for causes and young people.
Family, academic achievement, sports success and pride in playing well because of hard work and determination — these have been forces in Al Dixon's life since his childhood in East St. Louis, Illinois, where he saw first-hand the damage drugs, alcohol and the lack of discipline can do to young people who are not encouraged and supported.
Al credits his parents' love and respect for others for his drive to succeed — first as high school Scholar Athlete of the Year, then earning a scholarship to Iowa State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Child Development and Psychology.
At Iowa State he became one of only eight Big Eight players ever to letter in three sports: football, basketball and baseball. He turned down an offer from the Boston Red Sox to sign with the New York Giants. His NFL career as a tight end — with the Kansas City Chiefs, San Diego Chargers and Philadelphia Eagles — ended with the San Francisco 49ers Super Bowl Championship of 1985.
